On July 23 & 24, we brought the magic back to downtown Kent with themed decorations, photo opportunities, and fun activities! Our downtown businesses planned fun decorations, menu items and product features for the event. Friday’s activities included a live owl show hosted by the Kent Free Library, the Run That Shall Not Be Named 5 3/4 K Fun Run at the Kent State Esplanade and the Wobbly Wizard Bar Crawl. Saturday, visitors were encouraged to visit our downtown businesses for themed treats, drinks, meals and merchandise. At the Hometown Bank Plaza there was a community painting activity with local artist Jerrica Damask and wand making with Kent Junior Mothers. Par for the Curse, a putt putt event, included 18 of our businesses with wizardly themed putt putt holes, complete with golden golf balls! Throughout the weekend, “sorcery stones” (hand-painted wizardly rocks) were hidden throughout the downtown for people to find and enter for a chance to win gift cards using the hashtag #KentWizRocks on social media. Thank you for helping us keep the magic alive in Kent!
