On July 22 & 23, Main Street Kent will bring Wizardly Weekend back to downtown Kent! We’re working with businesses to develop a magically-themed weekend featuring menu specials, wizardly treats, window displays, magical merchandise, and activities. There will be a 5 3/4 K fun run and bar crawl on Fri., July 22 and a community painting project, rock hunt, wand making station, magical miniature golf and more family-friendly activities on Sat., July 23.
Come to Kent for the whole weekend and stay at our boutique downtown hotel, the Kent State Hotel & Conference Center!
On Sat., July 23 from 11am-5pm, a special vendor area will be featured on Erie St. (This is the only day and time the street will be closed.) A limited number of vendors have been chosen and will offer hand-crafted, event-themed items including licensed Harry Potter merchandise at select booths. Check out our list of vendors below!
Catch Me if you Can – Run that Shall Not be Named

The 6th annual Run That Shall Not Be Named 5 3/4 K will be held on Fri., July 22. This noncompetitive* fun run will take participants on a magical journey through the Kent State campus. Participants are highly encouraged to dress in themed costumes for this event. The 5K will begin at 6pm on the Lester Lefton Esplanade and take runners on a spellbinding loop though some of Kent State’s most magnificent places. Registration is $30 and all participants will receive a commemorative “Run That Shall Not Be Named” 5 3/4 K t-shirt, medal, and bib. (Must be registered by July 8 to receive race t-shirt.) Registration is limited to the first 300 wizards, witches, and muggles.

The Wobbly Wizard Bar Crawl is Friday, July 22, sponsored by New Amsterdam Vodka and High Noon Sun Sips!
Start this magical evening at Water Street Tavern, where you’ll check in anytime between 5:00PM and 7:00PM to pick up your Wobbly Wizard bar crawl “pass,” custom glassware and other magical giveaways. Enjoy jello shots in house colors, compliments of Water Street Tavern, then head out for a fun night. Each guest will be automatically entered in a prize raffle, so please enter all guest names when registering; no raffle tickets needed. Winner to be announced Mon., July 25, 2022.

Join us for a magical miniature golf excursion around downtown Kent during Wizardly Weekend! Check-in at Kent Sportswear located at 125 S. Water St. in downtown Kent. Pick up your commemorative golf ball (compliments of Meijer), score card & pencil, and spend the afternoon playing putt putt! Stop for lunch, drinks, and shopping along the way. Purchase specially themed menu items and merchandise like chocolate frogs, buttery beverages, and dragon wings to name a few! After your round, enter your scores online (link will be on scorecard) for a chance to win prizes. Guests are invited to bring their own putters, or putters will be available to borrow at each hole.

Bell Tower Ball

Don your best dress, dress robes, house colors – anything formal goes – for the Bell Tower Ball! Guests will be transported to Christmas time at their favorite Magic School. Join Bell Tower Brewing for a magical gathering complete with cocktail concoctions, potions, pumpkin juice, mead, Bell Tower’s Christmas ale, magical creature hors d’oeuvres, sweets and all of the activities and delights of the evening. This formal event will have a DJ and each should prepare to “Put your best foot forward, and I mean this literally because…the [Bell Tower] Ball is first and foremost, a dance.”
